This is the first Air-Chased larger Copper Sculpture I have attempted.
I have previously shared several pieces of Air-chased Copper jewellery – Pendants, Cuffs and Rings. I wanted to take my Air-chasing skills a step further from small items of jewellery and make a bold statement piece to bring out the natural beauty of hammered copper.
So I spent a few hours hammering a 30 cm piece of sheet copper, thinking it would look nice in a water feature. Once I opened it up it looked amazing and I thought it worked as a one-off Copper Sculpture. When I posted a picture on Instagram the comment I got was
It looks like a face trapped beneath the top of the copper.
and so it does indeed!
So this one off copper sculpture became ‘Angst’ because it does look like an anguished face trying to escape. More about this sculpture.
